The Common symptoms of vegetable diseases

(1)Color changing

Definition: The phenomenon of local or whole plant losing its normal color after getting illness.

Reason: Because of the imbalance of pigment ratio due to the inhibition or destruction of chlorophyll or chloroplasts.

Performance：

①Chlorisis: Whole plant, whole leaves, or part of it change color uniformly.Chlorisis is due to a decrease in chlorophyll.The rule of color changing:pale green, light green, light yellow, yellow, white, gray, red, brown, purple, black, and finally dry and die.

Reason: drought, waterlogging, freeze injury, fertilizer damage,pesticide damage,nutritional deficiency.

②Non-uniform color changing

It is mainly manifested on the formation of irregular color in the leaf (front, back), fruit surface (negative side, Yang side) and the contour of different color parts is clear.If the outline of the discoloration part is not very clear, it is called mottled.

Reason: lack of trace elements,viral diseases,root rot,freeze injury,pesticide injury and fertilizer damage.

(2)Necrosis

Definition: It refers to the death of plant cells and tissues

Reason: It is usually caused by the pathogenic killing or poisoning of the plant, or by the protective local suicide of the host plant.

(3)Rot

Definition: It refers to the decomposition and destruction of plant tissue in a large scale

Reason: Due to the decomposition and destruction of plant tissue made by pathogenic hydrolytic enzymes.

The difference between rot and necrosis: rot is the destruction and resolution of the whole tissue and cells, and the necrosis also maintains a certain outline of the original tissue and cells.

(4)Wilting

Definition: It refers to the phenomenon of leaves‘drooping and rolling because of dehydration.

Reason: Due to the plant root damage,there are difficulties in water absorption and transport.

(5)Malformation

Definition: It refers to the occurrence of promoting or inhibitory lesions in cell division and growth of the plant resulting in the whole plant or local morphological abnormalities.

Reason: It is mainly caused by the pathogenic secretion of hormone substances or interference with the host hormone metabolism.
